Round 6 - Clan Choice

This round will start in November 2011. The format will be the most popular suggested in this thread by members of the clan. you have until the end of October to post a suggestion here. It can literally be any pauper (or close to pauper) format, but try to avoid things we have played already in 2011.

The round starts November 5th 2011 and will end on December 16th.

Format is Modern Pauper.

Pauper modern.

Cards allowed: All commons available in the following sets : Eighth Edition, Mirrodin ,Darksteel ,Fifth Dawn ,Champions of Kamigawa ,Betrayers of ,amigawa ,Saviors of Kamigawa ,Ninth Edition ,Ravnica: City of Guilds ,Guildpact ,Dissension ,Coldsnap ,Time Spiral ,Planar Chaos ,Future Sight ,Tenth Edition ,Lorwyn ,Morningtide ,Shadowmoor ,Eventide ,Shards of Alara ,Conflux ,Alara Reborn ,Magic 2010 ,Zendikar ,Worldwake ,Rise of the Eldrazi ,Magic 2011 ,Scars of Mirrodin ,Mirrodin Besieged ,New Phyrexia ,Magic 2012 , Innistrad.

Sideboards: allowed.

Banned cards: Ancient Den, Cloudpost, Cranial Plating, Empty the Warrens, Great Furnace, Kor Skyfisher, Mystical Teachings, Seat of the Synod, Vault of Whispers, Tree of Tales, Ponder, Preordain, Rite of Flame.
Cards not legal in modern due to rarity: Corrupt, Rewind, Serrated Arrows, Circles of Protection.
Cards from dual-decks and timeshifted cards are not legal

Filter: Use the pauper or modern filter.

Block Wars would be a fun round, I vote for that!

Modern actually sounds like a fantastic idea to me.

You have about 2 weeks left to nominate a format for clan choice. So far there's little consensus, but I have hopes this will be an exciting round.

Just to add a bit of spice I have decided to use this round to clear out the prize account, including any unclaimed prizes from previous rounds. Prizes for everyone!

Given the falling participation I'm not sure I want to carry on with the league next year. There will be a break for the whole of January during which I will guage interest and then I'll decide what to do. If any of our established clan members would like to take a turn running the league then this is your chance.

I will put in my vote for Modern as well. Seems popular and maybe we will have a better chance of getting more players interested.

I missed the majority of last round, was in the process of changing jobs and being poor. I vote for modern as well, also I would love to see a higher participation in leagues. Maybe we can all brainstorm up some ideas to attract new players?

One idea I thought might help people get matches is maybe some official league time blocks where we all try to be online, maybe with some bonus prizes for rounds won during these times. These blocks of time could be voted on or announced each week for a different time to accommodate more people.

Perhaps I can help you with the league JMason as well if it's becoming too much of a burden? I am now officially not busy 5-midnight Monday-Friday pacific time with my new job. Hope everyone is doing well, been pretty absent from the MTGO scene lately.

Hey guys, I know I registered for season 5 and didn't make it out to any games, so sorry about that. I'd be willing to register for this season too (I vote Modern as the format), and hopefully I can be a little more active. One thing: I'm not sure of the best way to get matches going, since I never received messages even when I was online. Is there a chatroom or time you guys regularly meet at? Might make co-ordinating a little easier.

Hi Chann23. Well you're supposed to use the clan channel, but if you're not in the clan then you have to resort to buddying the names on the list and PM'ing for matches. League matches can happen any time during the round. Having said that a lot of people have suggested scheduled meeting times for next year, and I agree that's worth trying.

Please sign me up, I will try to get in matches this round, last round I was busy applying for then starting at new job. Is there an established meta game for modern pauper? Anyone want to have some practices matches? Also maybe if we all post some times we will be around it will be easier to find a matches. I am free most weekdays from 5-11pm pacific time and on weekends from 10am-midnight. I will start leaving MTGO client open during the times when I am home, maybe it will help make our league more active!

I'll reg too. @Pete, check out PDCMagic.com. They've been running Modern events for the past couple months or so, and most of the decklists are up on there.

I'll add you guys to my buddy list, and feel free to just message me whenever you see me online.

One question: How do decks work? Can you just change your deck at anytime, or just use one list for the whole season? If we can change our decklists, it almost feels like we can pre-sideboard

Change your deck as often as you like, as long as it's a legal deck. It's not unheard of for people to try to metagame that way, but since everyone can change decks at will you might just be making things worse for yourself. Remember the league offers rewards for participation as well as wins, so feel free to play homebrews and rogue decks.

Yes, thanks for letting everyone know, I have been away from the internet for a couple of days.

I do my best to ensure the scores are accurate, but please, please, please can everyone try to report all their matches in one place and in the correct format. If I have made any errors tidying all this up please let me know asap.

You may play a 4th match against each opponent.

OK, that's it for another year, the round is over aand the season is over. Thank you all again for your support of this league, and I look forward to playing you all again in a the relaunched league next year.
