I think you can. I have office 2007, and I can save a spreadsheet in excel as a web page. Just use the 'save as' option , select document type of 'web page', and it saves with a .htm extension. If you load that up in notepad you'll be able to copy the table and paste it into the forum.

thanks jmason the spacing is kind of tight but i think it will work. this should save me who knows how much time, the table took almost an hour to start. but now that execl looks like it will work much faster i can prolly find the time to up date it daily i'll get right on it tomrrow after i get home from work

well as you can see my test one worked very well but the one with the results in it is a mess, nothing is stayin lined up

if it's not lining up, then you probably need to put something in the empty cells. The best thing would probably be 'no breaking space' which is  

still no luck

I just did a couple of results to see how long it takes and maaan.... that's painful. For now maybe it'd be best for us to share the load between 3-4 people. as long as it's updated regularly and everyone keeps an eye on their own scores we should spot any mistakes. Depending how that goes maybe it'd be wise to find another way of doing it for future leagues because that twisted my head in a bad way

Instructions on how to convert excel results table to bbcode.

step 1 - open source excel document, e.g. test.xlsx (n.b. every cell must contain a non-space character, I have used a dot)
step 2 - save as a single page web document, e.g. test.mht
step 3 - open mht file with notepad and copy only the table
step 4 - paste html table onto http://www.seabreezecomputers.com/html2bbcode/ selecting 'smf code' option and convert to bbcode
step 5 - copy bbcode into forum post
step 6 - add border=1 to table declaration
step 7 - done

note: there's a few funny format problems caused by excel setting line wrap at 76 characters, i'll try and fix that

that's terrific, sounds like a lot less work

it was but excel 2007 kept thing i wanted 2-0 and 1-2 to be febuary and january. so there was some mistakes in the table but andy seems to have found them. oh if anyone knows where i can get a free copy of execl 2007 that would be helpful i've only got the trial right now.

EVERYONE SHOULD CHECK THIER OWN RESULTS AND POINT OUT ANY MISTAKES.

To stop excel changing 1-2 to 1st february you can prefix the string with an apostrophe, e.g. '1-2
Theapostrophe tells excel to treat 1-2 as a string, and not to guess that it's a numberr or a date as it will if left to itself.

Just a little reminder to everyone now a few are getting close to 20 games. Please try to keep an eye on how many you've played so you don't end up playing more than 20, because that could end up screwing things up a bit with the table.

its been a few days and i havent noticed any new results, this round is scheduled to end on feb 18 so those of you who still havent played 20 matches please get them in. if you are having a hard time finding some one to play let me know

alright well if anyone needs to play someone more then twice to get thier 20 matches in go right a head and do it, if the other person already has thier 20 matches in i will drop thier lowest result of the 3 matches

also please vote for the next league format if you havent already done so

alright i will update this table tomrrow and check it twice... maybe even three times if you have any matches to add now is the time.


and also i'd like to point out that this thread has now had 700+ views which is our highest veiwed thread to date

well the new table is done, i started from scratch so hopefully its all set. wilddman some how i have you at 21 games tho, shouldnt really make a differenc
